January Horse Trials

January Horse Trials

Majestic Oaks Ocala January Horse trials are set for the 16th and 17th. With over 230 riders registered this promises to be a great show. We look forward to a successful event on January 16 and 17th.

Parking on Saturday and Sunday

Dressage judges and scribes will need to park behind their assigned arenas. Show jump judge and scribe will need to park behind the booth on the far side of the arena. Volunteers and staff will need to park behind the show office.

Check-in

All volunteers and staff will have their temperature taken daily.  There will be a table set up for that purpose as you enter our grounds.  A paper bracelet will be given to each person daily.

Breakfast/Snacks

Coffee, pastries and fruit will be available for staff and volunteers.   I will also have additional items out for anyone who would like to take something to their assigned location each day.   The hospitality person will make the rounds offering additional snacks and/or beverages.

General Schedule and Staff

We will schedule dressage and show jumping on Saturday.  We may need to schedule a SJ division on Sunday with XC but that is tentative at this point.  When Nancy accepts that last rider and schedules ride times the general schedule will then be finalized.

Show Secretary

Nancy has been busy working to check all registrations and is responsible to ensure all who need to have their memberships paid for the 2021….are completed.

She will send maps to all participants and a welcome letter from Ron and I.   Additionally, ride times will be posted next week on our website with a link on FB.

Riders will be notified that they can pick up their packets and walk the course on Friday, January 15, 2021.

Dressage

4 arenas will be set up for Saturday, January 16.   Each arena will have a tent and 2 chairs.  A plexiglass panel separating the judge and scribe is available if requested.  If you choose to judge out of your car, please let me know.

Show Jumping

Joachim Englert is the designer and lead person in the Show Jump Arena.  He will provide maps for all divisions for review/approval by Wayne.    They will be posted on a white board next to the arena.   Jo will be in charge of the arena and all height changes plus grooming/watering the arena.

Cross Country

John Williams is our course designer and completed all 5 maps on Monday, January 4.   Provisional maps have been sent to me, Tommy and Nancy.  Nancy will be sending the maps out to all riders next week.   Wayne will review all maps on Friday, January 15.

Maps will be printed for volunteers, EMT, Safety Officer, office staff, coordinators and timers.

Volunteer Coordinators

Cassi and Libby are volunteer coordinators for the January horse trials. They are tireless and continue to provide our army of volunteers with accurate and up-to-date information.  They greet them and ensure everyone knows what they are supposed to do for each area.  Our events run more efficiently through the efforts of Cassi and Libby.

They also help provide assistance to anyone who asks….which is truly appreciated and valued.

Course Decorators

Cindy Jezerski is an amazing asset to our community.  She spends so many hours at Majestic Oaks both for recognized events and schooling shows.  Our farm is a better place for our riders because of her passion for the sport.

Cindy and Chris Cox plan for each area of the competition.  They spend 4 full days decorating for safety and beauty.

EMT

All employees of SOS are excellent. We continually hope that the person who comes to our farm is Baron.

Sheriff

Although it is not required. Ron and I feel it is essential to continually provide an additional layer of security and protection for our community.  Their attendance is not guaranteed, we are hoping someone will pick up the assignment.

Food Truck

Poppy’s will be on site both days of the January Horse Trials.

Wood Fired Pizza Truck will be on site Sunday.

We are looking for 1 additional truck for Saturday, too many people for just one truck.

A menu will be sent to all volunteers and staff from Cassi and/or Libby.  I am asking all of you to respond as soon as possible. This way we can give the selection of items to our food truck.  If you have special dietary needs, let them know asap.

There will be no tables set up for outside dinning.  We will encourage all participants to set up areas outside of their trailers.

COVID-19

Masks are required for everyone unless they are on horse back.  Hand sanitizer will be available as will extra masks.  We did not experience any concerns with our last 2 recognized events in October and November and I do not anticipate any problems next week.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the January Horse Trials.
