It was another busy year at Majestic Oaks. In 2023, we had 11 events consisting of schooling shows and Recognized Horse trials (excluding our Jumper shows). This season our volunteers amassed an impressive 2,334 hours. This year we had 115 volunteers graciously assist us in running these events. Without the efforts of our volunteers, these events would not be possible. We cannot thank all of our volunteers enough for their time and expertise.
Our 2023 volunteers of the year are Ginny Hahn, Karen Mumme, and Dick Owen. Learn more about each of them below.
2023 Majestic Oaks Volunteer of the Year- Ginny Hahn
2023 Majestic Oaks Volunteer of the year is Ginny Hahn. Ginny had over 122 hours accumulated this year. Ginny is a vital part of our volunteer community. She has assisted this year in numerous positions such as: finish timer, show jump crew, show jump scribe among other positions.
Ginny has a passion for giving back to the community and the sport of Eventing. She has been actively involved in the equestrian world for numerous years with her daughter Heather riding. She volunteers at other events in the area as well as Majestic Oaks. Her passion for giving back to the community is evident.
“I volunteer to be a part of a very special sport that requires a special teamwork to succeed! I feel lucky to be able to help these teams of rider and horse achieve their goals! I did not grow up around horses, so I feel very fortunate to have moved to Florida 3 years ago from NH and been able to buy a horse farm to help support my daughter and our dreams. To have landed so close to Majestic and been able to volunteer and meet up with a pony clubber from NH, Ms. Cassi, was such a great surprise! Thanks for letting me be part of this special place!”

2023 Majestic Oaks 2nd Place Volunteer of the Year- Karen Mumme
Karen came in second place this year, with over 101 hours this year. Karen has helped with hospitality and cross country decoration. She has been a tremendous help with the 2023 show season and we are truly grateful to have her as a part of the Majestic Oaks team.
Karen was born a horse person… she says she “probably neighed on arrival”. She got her first horse at 10 and has probably had at least 100 since then. She fox hunted with her Dad and showed in the local hunter shows. She also kept a horse through college and when I moved to Miami she bought one there. Safe to say horses have always been an important part of her life.
Through the years she has been involved in 4H, Pony Club, Harmony Farms, DHD dressage, Fl Whips, eventing, barrel racing, Brevard County Mounted Posse and Space Coast Arabian Horse Club.
She has trained horses and developed riders. She states “My previous students have done great things and continue to make me proud.” She has two daughters that have continued to ride and they always amaze her with their skills.
“I am honored to be one of the top Volunteers at Majestic Oaks. lt is a beautiful venue and dedicated to the future event world. Marisa and Ron make it an enjoyable experience for both volunteers and participants. I feel refreshed when I drive in the gate and see the trailers and activity.”

2023 Majestic Oaks 3rd place Volunteer of the Year- Dick Owen
Dick Owen was third in our 2023 volunteer of the year leaderboard. He amassed over 85 hours prior to his sudden tragic passing in July. Dick Owen was a tremendous volunteer who gave selflessly to the sport of Eventing. He was a staple at all of the events in Florida, and his loss has impacted all of the venues across the state and beyond.
Dick also was a chief steward of videographers at Land Rover Kentucky. He volunteered at Kentucky for several decades. He held numerous positions during his time at Land Rover including the Groom & Owners shuttle chief steward. His dedication to assisting one of the most prestigious events in the country was inspiring.
Dick was also the USEA Volunteer of the year in 2022. Giving back to the sport was one of the most important things to Dick. He worked to help better the sport by being outspoken on the importance of volunteerism. Dick was on numerous podcasts for the sport including Major League Eventing. His passion and dedication to the sport will be missed dearly along with his smiling face at finish.
“I came to Florida not knowing anyone and found Ocala, a place I could relate to. I love meeting the volunteers and riders. I consider them my friends.”
Dick Owen
